Okidata C5550N Printer - An Effective Small Office Printer
This multifunction laser printer is capable of printing, copying, scanning and working as a fax. Although this unit was discontinued in July of 2009, the Okidata C5550N Printer is still available for sale. This is the unit that succeeded the C5510NMFP in August of 2007. The purchase price varies. The ink you need is Okidata C5550N compatible printer toner cartridge.
This industrial machine is 26 inches tall and weighs 81 pounds. It has 256K of imaging memory and is available with an optional 40 GB Hard Disk Drive. It works with all Windows platforms and is capable of two-sided printing. The paper capacity is 400 sheets, which can be expandable to 930 sheets with an optional second tray that retails for about two hundred dollars.
The machine runs on a four separate toner cartridges and each color yields 5,000 pages with the exception of black, which yields 6000 pages. The Okidata C Series printer cartridge can be purchased in a four cartridge set that includes yellow, magenta, cyan and black for about two hundred and seventy four dollars. The cartridges can also be purchased separately for between sixty and one hundred and fifty dollars a piece.
Printing quality is ideal. The resolution pertaining to printed pages amasses up to twelve hundred by five hundred dots per inch. The amount of copies generated per minute for black and white is 32. The amount of color copies produced in one minute is 20.
The strong suit of this machine is that it is a very capable network printer that will handle the heavy workload of a paper generating office. It is a durable machine that won't waste a lot of office time due to jamming. In fact, is has received reports of very few and infrequent problems.
Scanner abilities are documented as satisfactory. The machine may not be intended for heavy scanning usage. Network scanning is slower than the regular scan process, quality of scans have shown gray areas, however, for standard office use it is perfect.
The scan speed is as fast as three seconds per page is black and white and color scans can be as fast as six seconds. The scan resolution is up to 4800 dots per inch. It does have scan to PC abilities along with an address book manager.
Copying abilities are standard with a speed of 32 copies per minute in black ink only. Color copies can be created at a speed of 20 per minute. The amount of time to wait for a color copy is approximately four seconds. The resolution for copying on the Okidata is 600 by 600 dots per inch. Three copy modes can be selected including photo, test and speed.
Faxing resolution is 200 by 400 dots per inch. No complaints have been registered regarding the outgoing fax transmission, and units have been reported to handle incoming messages with relative ease. The Okidata C5550N compatible printer cartridge has received acclaim for doing what it is intended to do.
