With the demise of the defunct Ford Taurus, there has been a gaping hole in Ford's midsized line-up which Toyota and honda just love to see.Originally introduced in Ford's 2006 line-up, the Fusion has new modications including the new Hybrid power plant. Ford officially released the Fusion Hybrid recently at the Los Angeles Auto Show late in 2008.In comparison to competitors, the Ford Fusion Hybrid gets some of the best in-town gas mileage.Driving the Fusion Hybrid around town will net you over 40 miles per gallon which far outshines the Camry and even the fuel efficient civic hybrid.Thanks to an electric motor, the Ford can go up to 47 miles per hour.There are a ton of Vehicle Magazines that have used these tactics to get much better gas savings than the EPA ratings.
By using new technology, the Fusion can help drivers know which driving style recieves the best fuel economy. They have created an ingenious system which is built into the instrument cluster called the SmartGauge.there are 2 hybrid information displays, one on each side of the gauge cluster that give a nice readout.The 1st display tells the power left in the battery packs and the remaining amount of fuel.The 2nd information monitor shows the tachometer and the electric mode function.This third gauge displays the output energy of the batteries and the engine.Additional power consumption and power to the wheels are shown in the last data screen.Information Displays reveal fuel consumption, Miles Per Gallon account, journey record, and antifreeze levels.To inform the driver which driving style is the best for fuel economy, a real time MPG information gauge is available.
Check the nav display to see the cool hybrid Energy Flow stuff.A couple of different things will be displayed like the charge of the car, the various hybrid power systems, the regenerative braking, and the boost.
Ford not only equipped the Fusion with an environmentally friendly drivetrain; they also used post-industrial yarns which are recycled into the seats of the Fusion Hybrid.Ford has finally come out with a fuel efficient car that will appeal to the masses and be a leading competitor to Toyota and Honda's hybrids.
